Description

Festive sugar cookies flavored with peppermint, ideal for holiday baking.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface and cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the cookies while they are still slightly warm.

Notes

  • For a stronger peppermint flavor, add more peppermint extract.
