Tuna Melt on Sourdough

A delicious and comforting Tuna Melt Sourdough Sandwich made with a creamy tuna mixture and melted cheese between crispy sourdough bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Butter for spreading

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tuna mixture by combining drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, and red onion in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Assemble the sandwich by spreading butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Place two slices in a heated skillet, buttered side down, and spread half of the tuna mixture on each slice. Top with half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Cook the sandwich over medium heat until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until golden and cheese is melted, another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Remove from skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use medium heat to avoid burning the bread while ensuring the cheese melts.
  • A non-stick skillet is ideal for easy flipping.
  • Let the sandwich rest for a minute before slicing for easier handling.
