Description
Homemade soft peppermint candies for the Christmas holiday.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Red food coloring
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Continue cooking without stirring until the mixture reaches 260°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and red food coloring.
- Pour onto a greased baking sheet.
- Let cool slightly, then cut into small squares with oiled scissors or a knife.
- Dust with powdered sugar.
- Let cool completely.

- Store in an airtight container to prevent sticking.
- Adjust the amount of food coloring to your preference.
