Slow Cooker Brisket

Description

Tender brisket cooked in a slow cooker.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lb beef brisket
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the brisket.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear brisket on all sides until browned.
  3. Place sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Place seared brisket on top of the onion and garlic.
  5. In a bowl, combine beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour over the brisket.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours, until brisket is tender.
  7. Remove brisket from slow cooker and let rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  8. Serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of liquid smoke to the sauce.
  • If the sauce is too thin, you can thicken it by whisking in a tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with two tablespoons of cold water during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
