Description

A flavorful rice dish with shrimp, sausage, and Cajun spices.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, diced
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sausage and cook until browned.
  3. Add bell pepper and onion and cook until softened.
  4. Add garlic, Cajun seasoning, and black pepper and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add rice and stir to coat.
  6. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until rice is cooked through.
  8. Add shrimp and cook until pink.
  9. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • You can substitute other types of sausage, such as andouille or Italian sausage.
