- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, oil, vinegar, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Pour batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine powdered sugar, melted butter, and milk.
- Pour mixture evenly over the batter.
- Pour hot water over the mixture in the dish. Do not stir.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and the sauce is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.

- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
