Description

A simple recipe for making butter chicken at home.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and ginger-garlic paste for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
  3. Add garam masala, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Sauté for a minute.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Add the marinated chicken and cook until it is cooked through.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and butter. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red chili powder to your preference.
  • For a richer flavor, use homemade ginger-garlic paste.
