- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Red, white, and black icing for decoration
Instructions
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a puppy-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool completely on the baking sheet before decorating.
- Decorate the cooled cookies with red, white, and black icing to resemble puppy Santas.
Notes
- For best results, ensure butter is softened before creaming.
- Chilling the dough prevents the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant icing colors.
