Ingredients

- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Gradually blend in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
- Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, chill dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling.
- Decorate with frosting and sprinkles as desired.
