Description
Pork chops with caramelized onions and Gruyere cheese.
Ingredients

- 4 boneless pork chops
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices Gruyere cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Add sliced onions to the skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (about 20-25 minutes).
- Stir in beef broth, white wine, and thyme. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Place pork chops on top of the caramelized onions in the skillet.
- Top each pork chop with a slice of Gruyere cheese.
- Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and pork chops are cooked through.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve with a side of mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
- For a richer flavor, use bone-in pork chops.
