Description

Pork chops with caramelized onions and Gruyere cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless pork chops
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices Gruyere cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear pork chops for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. Add sliced onions to the skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (about 20-25 minutes).
  6. Stir in beef broth, white wine, and thyme. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Place pork chops on top of the caramelized onions in the skillet.
  8. Top each pork chop with a slice of Gruyere cheese.
  9. Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and pork chops are cooked through.
  10. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
