Description

Spicy and flavorful chicken dish.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 12 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-5 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sriracha, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken and bring to a simmer. Cook until the sauce has thickened and is sticky, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Serve the Firecracker Chicken over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and add it to the sauce while simmering.
  • Serve immediately for best results.
