Description
A festive and easy French toast bake made with eggnog, perfect for holiday mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf (1 pound) challah or brioche bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups eggnog
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, maple syrup, extra cinnamon
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange the bread cubes evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, eggnog, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the eggnog mixture evenly over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are moistened. Press down gently to help the bread absorb the liquid.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the French toast bake.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the bake is set and golden brown on top.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a good quality eggnog.
- If you don’t have challah or brioche, a sturdy white bread can be used, but let it soak longer.
- You can assemble this bake the night before and bake it in the morning for a convenient breakfast.
