Ingredients

  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss potato slices with melted butter.
  3. In a saucepan, whisk together flour and milk until smooth.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  6. Layer half of the potato slices in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Pour half of the milk mixture over the potatoes.
  8. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes and milk mixture.
  9. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and golden brown.
  10. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
