Description
Classic apple slices with a sweet, flaky crust.
Ingredients

- 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup shortening, cold and cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add water, mix until dough forms.
- Divide dough in half. Roll out one half and place in the bottom of a baking pan.
- Arrange apple slices over the crust.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Roll out the remaining dough and cover the apples.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
- Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
