Description

Classic apple slices with a sweet, flaky crust.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup shortening, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add water, mix until dough forms.
  5. Divide dough in half. Roll out one half and place in the bottom of a baking pan.
  6. Arrange apple slices over the crust.
  7. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  8. Roll out the remaining dough and cover the apples.
  9. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before slicing.
