Description

A hearty casserole with ground beef, hash browns, and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (30 ounce) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until onion is tender.
  4. In a large bowl, combine hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  5. Add ground beef mixture to the hash brown mixture and stir to combine.
  6. Pour mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Top with remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the ground beef mixture.
  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup.
