A hearty casserole with ground beef, hash browns, and cheese.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (30 ounce) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until onion is tender.
- In a large bowl, combine hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
- Add ground beef mixture to the hash brown mixture and stir to combine.
- Pour mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top with remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the ground beef mixture.
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup.
