Description

Festive brownies with a candy cane swirl, perfect for the holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the top of the batter.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting.

Notes

  • For a stronger peppermint flavor, you can add a few drops of peppermint extract to the batter.
  • Ensure candy canes are finely crushed for even distribution.
