Description
Classic baked pasta dish with a rich tomato sauce and melted cheese.
Ingredients

- 1 pound mostaccioli pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cook mostaccioli according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
- Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked mostaccioli, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
- Pour mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
- Feel free to add other vegetables to the sauce, such as bell peppers or mushrooms.
