Description

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a 9-inch pie plate with your prepared pie crust.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  5. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, and 1/4 teaspoon salt for the crumble topping.
  6. Cut in the cold butter pieces using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  7. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling.
  8. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. If the crust edges start to brown too quickly, cover them with aluminum foil.
  9. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
