Description

A quick and easy recipe for perfectly seared ahi tuna steaks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together sesame seeds, salt, and pepper.
  3. Press the sesame seed mixture onto both sides of the tuna steaks.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer for more well-done.
  6. Remove from skillet and let rest for a minute before slicing.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sesame seed mixture.
  • Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, or your favorite dipping sauce.
